The   seventh  head  of  the  mutt,  Sri  la  Sri   Mahadeva Gnana  Desikar of Devakottai, constructed a mutt  at  Thirukkalar, the  birth  place  of  his Guru  Thirukkalar  Andavar.   He  also renovated the  Andavar's dome and bore the food and pooja expenses  of  the mutt and the dome.About 400 acres of cultivable land was  bought in his period.  400 students studied Vedantam under him and  they established  branch mutts in various places.  In those  days  Sri Sesahdri  Swamigal, and Sri Ramana Maharishi conversed  with  him daily  and  took food from the mutt.  He treated the  poor  with herbal  medicines, free of cost. In his regime, the koviloor  mutt shone with spiritual excellence and grace.
